Luke 1977 Clothing
The story of Luke 1977 began in 2001 in the West Midlands of the UK. Luke Roper, based in Walsall Wood found that he had a talent for both football and clothing design. By the age of 15 he was making shirts for his friends to wear in nights out in the local area and from there his reputation grew.
The son of a Dressmaker mother and working class father, Luke attended the premium fashion university in London, Central St Martins and a degree in menswear design followed. Here he honed his skills and hatched a plan with lifelong family friend Simon Poole. The strategy was to create the best menswear brand in the UK. On graduation Luke teamed up with Deborah Poole and the journey began.
The idea and philosophy of the Luke brand was to always ‘build a lifestyle brand that will stand the test of time’ and some 20 years later that concept has certainly been achieved. The business has the same principles it started with all those years ago. Luke's creative masculine takes on men’s fashion, teamed with great quality and selective distribution means that the brand continues to be at the forefront of British fashion.
In recent year football collaborations has been at the heart of the Luke 1977 strategy. Recent collections have included the Claret and Blue Collection with Aston Villa football club which has proved hugely successful. The brand are now also supplying the training kits for Kidderminster Harriers FC and have recently launched their Luke Sport X Hibernian FC Collection. A huge football fan, soccer is at the heart of the brands DNA.
Luke 1977 is now firmly established as a leading contemporary menswear brand with a following stretching far and wide. Having grown with the support of key independent and online menswear boutiques the brand has evolved organically keeping true to its values, setting them apart from the crowd
