The return of iconic heritage sportswear continues with one of our favourite Italian brands. Over a century old and still proving as stylish as the early days, Fila has come a long way from their beginnings as a knitwear producer. Transformed by the ideals of manager Enrico Frachey in 1968, the blend of Italian craftsmanship and premium fabrics brought Fila to the forefront of global sportswear. Fusing performance and style, Fila became the label of champions. Branding featuring the “Life in Motion” tag line reflecting the sporting associations. The demand created by athletes and sports stars being seen in Fila created made influenced the change in how sportswear came to be viewed in fashion. Bursting into spring summer, the brand has taken some serious inspiration from the past. Their Vintage range is a collection with strong influences from Fila’s tennis era, blended with hints of their sailing and racing heritage fashions. And the Black Line collection – revisiting the Lycra clad stylings of the 80’s and blending these fabrics with the baggy silhouettes of the 90’s street trends. The Vintage collection for the classic, crisp dressers out there, includes the classic crew neck t-shirt with eye-catching graphics to the chest. Fila Red cotton fabric, pops against the navy and white printed Fila logo to the front chest. Contrasting trim to the sleeves and neckline give the quality finish expected from the brand.
The Ski Track Top from the current range captures the classic look but contrasts a simple zip front track top design with eye catching coloured panels to the body and on the sleeves. Finishing the look, the Fila red, white, navy stripes are used on the cuffs and hem. The zipper pull features the Fila logo, reflecting the branding to the left chest.
The Black Line collection brings a street feel to the collection, for the kool kids looking for pieces with a fresher design. Our favourite from the range is the outline logo tee with large outline lettering on a classic t-shirt shape in contrasting colours with a nod to the 90’s colour block style of Fila’s standout pieces.
